Martin scores 32 in Houston’s 90-88 OT win

The Houston Rockets seemed to be rolling in the first half against New Orleans, shooting well and building a double-digit lead. Luis Scola knew better.

“We weren’t executing the right way,” the Rockets forward said. “They came back, and that’s what happens when you don’t play good.”

Houston survived one of the worst fourth quarters in team history to hold off the Hornets 90-88 in overtime on Thursday night. Kevin Martin scored 27 of his 32 points in the first half, Samuel Dalembert grabbed a season-high 17 rebounds and the Rockets won their fifth straight game.

Raven LB Lewis a fan of Houston RB Foster

Arian Foster was in his first season as a starter for Houston back in 2010 when the Ravens came to town. When Baltimore linebacker Ray Lewis grabbed the running back after a play, he didn’t know what to expect. Turns out Lewis had become a fan and told Foster: “I love the way you play this game. You have a very, very bright future.”

Since then, the pair have become friends, though that bond will be put aside Sunday when the Ravens and Texans meet in an AFC divisional playoff game.

The year they went 1-15, I was ticked they won that one game. More >

Bengals, Texans seek playoff breakthrough

Andy Dalton and T.J. Yates weren’t around for any of the miserable seasons the Bengals and Texans have had over the past two decades.

The rookie quarterbacks now control which of the long-suffering franchises gets a milestone victory when the teams open the playoffs on Saturday. They’ll make some NFL history no matter who wins — it’s the first time two rookie starters will face off in a postseason game.

“It shows how much the game has changed in these days,” said Yates, who’ll make his sixth career start.

Houston Starbucks shops hike tall drink prices

Customers at Starbucks’ coffee shops in Houston are going to have shell out an extra dime for a tall cup of Joe or a tall latte.

It is known, however, that the cities that will see price hikes includes Houston, Boston, Atlanta, Dallas and Albuquerque, N.M. States that will not be affected include Florida and California, the Associated Press reports.
