The Houston Rockets seemed to be rolling in the first half against New Orleans, shooting well and building a double-digit lead. Luis Scola knew better.

“We weren’t executing the right way,” the Rockets forward said. “They came back, and that’s what happens when you don’t play good.”

Houston survived one of the worst fourth quarters in team history to hold off the Hornets 90-88 in overtime on Thursday night. Kevin Martin scored 27 of his 32 points in the first half, Samuel Dalembert grabbed a season-high 17 rebounds and the Rockets won their fifth straight game.

Arian Foster was in his first season as a starter for Houston back in 2010 when the Ravens came to town. When Baltimore linebacker Ray Lewis grabbed the running back after a play, he didn’t know what to expect. Turns out Lewis had become a fan and told Foster: “I love the way you play this game. You have a very, very bright future.”

Since then, the pair have become friends, though that bond will be put aside Sunday when the Ravens and Texans meet in an AFC divisional playoff game.

It has been a long time coming, but after nine years of moving up the ranks in the NFL the Houston Texans have finally clinched their first playoff berth in franchise history. Even though this team has been very talented and promising over the years, this season was the year that the NFL’s most recent expansion team became a legitimate force to be reckoned and will try to make a deep run in the playoffs.

For the third time in three games, the Texans will have a new starting quarterback. Rookie T.J. Yates, a fifth-round pick from North Carolina, will start against Atlanta at Reliant Stadium. More >
